The MR1700 WiFi Gigabit Router is able to transmit high-speed WiFi data over a wide area, even to distant rooms in large homes. One reason is 4 antennas for the 2.4 GHz frequency band, the best band for sending WiFi to distant locations. The MR1700 also performs very well in apartments and condominiums that are bombarded by wireless noise from neighbors. Model MR1700's wireless performance is outstanding when used with smartphones, HDTVs, computers, game stations, and other wireless devices. This WiFi router has better range than much more expensive routers, which typically have only 3 antennas for the important 2.4 GHz frequency band. MR1700 setup is fast and easy, with phone, email, and Web support from the USA.

The Wi-Fi throughput and range of this device is excellent. I have several IP security cameras around the house and when connected to my AT&T gateway, it could barely handle the traffic from the cameras. The frame rate would drop down to 1 or less fps over time and dropping the connections necessitating a reboot. Not so with the MR1700. It has no trouble handling the Wi-Fi load. Plus it has better range. It was tricky to get it configured behind the Gateway because the 5268AC gateway which is AT&Ts newest doesn’t have easy settings to make it just a DSL modem and let the MR1700 do all the routing and Wi-Fi tasks. But AT&T was able to configure it remotely via a pinhole through the firewall and turning Wi-Fi off on the gateway. Now, the Gateway does the modem tasks and routing for the ethernet connected devices, and the MR1700 handles all the Wi-Fi connected devices. (6 security cams, 1 Wi-Fi to ethernet bridge, 1 cell phone, 2 laptops and 2 tablets that are always connected and transmitting/receiving) The Motorola Tech support was also very helpful in ironing out any final details.

Just got my router today. It took no time to connect and was simple. Just hook yellow cord to modem and plug it in with the AC adapter. The light was solid for about 50 seconds, blinked a few times and solid again. I went to WiFi and connected with new password and I was ready to go. So far everything seems faster. This replaced my Netgear router from about 2006. I had bought a pet camera and it wouldn’t connect with my old router. I had no problem with the new Motorola one. So far I’d definitely recommend this router! 10/19/18- I just wanted to update-router is still working well! Excellent signal throughout my home. I did a factory reset on it, thinking it may help with issues with my spectrum tv app, and thought I messed it up. So I called support and with very little wait time, the technician got my router running right and tried to help with my roku tv and spectrum app. It appears it’s a spectrum issue as everything else works. My wireless internet is back up and running It was my error why it wasn’t working (I reconnected wrong). Technician was very knowledgeable about everything and friendly. I’d definitely recommend this router as product has worked well and support is excellent!
